Types of Contracts

Contract Manager defines contracts as one of ten types, which describes the intended use for a specific contract.

  1. General Purpose Carrier Charges
    A contract that defines rates a carrier charges for moving freight for a general client. These contracts are not client-specific, and will return costs for any shipment the carrier will cover.
  2. Preferred Carrier Charges
    A contract that defines rates a carrier charges for moving freight for a specific client. These contracts will only return costs for the client assigned to them.
  3. General Purpose Billing Charges
    A contract that defines how much ProTrans charges for moving freight for a general customer. These contracts are not client-specific, and will return generic ProTrans charges for a given shipment.
  4. Customer Billing Charges
    A contract that defines how much ProTrans charges for moving freight for a specific customer. These contracts will only return charges for the client assigned to them, and is how ProTrans customer contracts are typically stored.
  5. Partner Carrier Revenue Split
    A contract that provides information to the web rating service on how a previously-determined rate should be shared between the principal and partner carriers.
  6. Web Quotation Cost
    A contract that defines the carrier cost basis for a general freight quote offered over the Internet.
  7. Web Quotation Charge
    A contract that defines the customer billing charges for a general freight quote offered over the Internet.
  8. Baseline (Benchmark) Charges
    A contract that provides a rate used for comparative purposes only.
  9. Analysis Only
    A contract that is used for cost analysis purposes only, typically with the batch rater.
  10. Freight Bill Audit
    A contract used to audit freight bills for a third-party customer.
