Enter Carrier Contract Areas
Overview
An area is a custom geographical region that is used to determine the available origins and destinations for a contract. Areas entered for a carrier will be available in any contract to which the carrier is associated.
Process
To Enter a Carrier Contract Area:
- Search for the carrier to be edited. See Search for a Carrier for details.
- Open the carrier to be updated.
- Click Contract Areas.
The Carrier Contract Area Summary tab opens.
- Click New.
The Add a New Area tab opens.
- Enter an Area Description. This is a title describing the regions included in the area (such as "48 contiguous.")
- Enter an Area Code, if needed. An area code is a short, alphanumeric code used to group similar areas that will be displayed before their description. Areas with no area code will be listed before areas with an area code. For example, all areas in Canada could use the area code CANADA.
- Select the states to include in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, if needed. Selecting a state in any country will include all locations in that state that are not specifically excluded by city or postal code. The region buttons can be used to select predefined groups of states.
- Select any Countries to include in the area. A country must be selected for the area to be saved.
- Enter any Cities to include in In Area as [City Name] [ST] (do not use a comma.) For example, Indianapolis IN.
- Enter any Cities to exclude from the selected states in Not In Area as [City Name] [ST] (do not use a comma.) For example, Indianapolis IN.
- Enter any Zip/Postal Codes to include in In Area. US ZIP codes can be entered with three, five, or nine digits. Canadian postal codes can be entered with three or six characters. Three-digit entries will be treated as a range of all postal codes that begin with those digits. Nine-digit ZIP codes must include the dash (46241-3628.) A range of postal codes can be entered by joining them with a colon (46201:46250.)
- Enter any Zip/Postal Codes to exclude from the selected states and cities in Not In Area.
