Manage Charge Rates

Overview

Users can view charge rates for services provided to our customers. Certain users, with the appropriate permissions, can also edit or delete these charge rates to ensure customers are billed accurately.

Any services which ProTrans must bill to its customers are entered into Optimiz as charge rates, or sell rates. Charge rates are primarily for transportation and fuel, but can also include accessorial charges or charges from an SAF. During shipment entry, users can view both the total charge information for a shipment as well as detailed information about how that charge was calculated.

Charge Rate Calls

Typically, Optimiz sends a query to the rating application, and any contracted rates for the origin and destination are returned. If no rates are returned, there is not a contract configured in the rating application for these locations. If the rating call fails to successfully return a rate, you will receive one of two messages that will help indicate why the failure may have occurred:

  • Rating communication was successful, but no contracted rates were found—“System was not able to find any rates for this transaction in the rating application.” To resolve this, enter a rate if you have the information.
  • Rating communication was unsuccessful and system was unable to connect to the rating application—“System was not able to connect to the rating application at this time. Please try again or contact the Helpdesk for assistance.” To resolve this, attempt to get the rate again. If it fails, contact the HelpDesk.
