Add a Message to a Load

Overview

Messages are used for historical reporting when something out of the ordinary occurs to a load or shipment. Adding a message to a load communicates details not captured in other areas of the application. Always add a message to a load when changes are made. Anyone with visibility to load including customers may see these messages.

For example: ETA’s, Automated tracking no longer available (border crossings, switch drivers etc.)

Once a message is added to a load it cannot be modified or deleted. Time sensitive information should be communicated in person, by phone, or by email. Adding a message to a load does not alert Protrans of message; it only places an entry in the event log and bottom of view tender.

Process

To Add a Message to a Load on the All Active Loads Page:

  1. Click All Active Loads on the Carrier Portal home page.
  2. Select the desired load.
  3. Click Message.

  1. Type the message in the Add CARRIER message section of the pop-up.
  2. Click Save New Message to save the message or Cancel to discard it.

To Add a Message to a Load on the Complete My Updates Page:

  1. Click Complete My Updates on the Carrier Portal home page.
  2. Select the desired load.
  3. Click Message.

  1. Enter the message in the pop-up window.
  2. Click Save New Message to save the message or Cancel to discard it.

Result

The pop-up window closes. A success message displays indicating that the message has been successfully added to the load.
