Add a Message to a Load
Overview
Messages are used for historical reporting when something out of the ordinary occurs to a load or shipment. Adding a message to a load communicates details not captured in other areas of the application. Always add a message to a load when changes are made. Anyone with visibility to load including customers may see these messages.
For example: ETA’s, Automated tracking no longer available (border crossings, switch drivers etc.)
Once a message is added to a load it cannot be modified or deleted. Time sensitive information should be communicated in person, by phone, or by email. Adding a message to a load does not alert Protrans of message; it only places an entry in the event log and bottom of view tender.
Process
To Add a Message to a Load on the All Active Loads Page:
- Click All Active Loads on the Carrier Portal home page.
- Select the desired load.
- Click Message.
- Type the message in the Add CARRIER message section of the pop-up.
- Click Save New Message to save the message or Cancel to discard it.
To Add a Message to a Load on the Complete My Updates Page:
- Click Complete My Updates on the Carrier Portal home page.
- Select the desired load.
- Click Message.
- Enter the message in the pop-up window.
- Click Save New Message to save the message or Cancel to discard it.
Result
The pop-up window closes. A success message displays indicating that the message has been successfully added to the load.
